Bilingual Exhibition Tour of "1920s Modernism in Montreal: The Beaver Hall Group"

Saturday, July 9, 2016 | 2 pm – 3 pm

Join Interim Curator of Contemporary Art, Jaclyn Meloche, for an engaging bilingual tour of 1920s Modernism in Montreal: The Beaver Hall Group. Through works by artists such as Emily Coonan, Adrien and Henri Hébert, Prudence Heward, Randolph S. Hewton, Edwin Holgate, A. Y. Jackson, John Y. Johnstone, Mabel May, Sarah Robertson, Anne Savage, Regina Seiden and Lilias Torrance Newton, as well as André Biéler and Kathleen Morris, co-curators Jacques Des Rochers and Brian Foss question historical gender binaries while celebrating the group’s diversity. Although short-lived, the Beaver Hall Group provided rich soil for abundant and substantial art-making, now inextricably linked with the history of art in Montreal, Quebec and Canada.

Free with regular gallery admission.
