Magic Lantern Show with Michael Lawlor

Betty F. Wilkinson RoomAlso known as Multi-purpose Room
First Floor

Sunday, May 30, 2010 2 pm – 4 pm

Michael Lawlor recreates this Magic Lantern slide lecture with original slides and a vintage Magic Lantern projector just as it was presented a century ago. The lecture is a composite of lectures that CPR presented worldwide to promote immigration and tourism in Canada. CPR continually revised their lectures to keep them up-to-date, and to attract different audiences as their need for immigrant skills changed with Canada's growth from agricultural to industrial activities. They were also trying to attract tourists to use their steamship lines, railways and hotels.

Enjoy a lively performance by local folk musician Patrick Mullin following the lecture. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be provided by AGW Volunteers. Spend a fun afternoon with your family at the Gallery!

Both the lecture and the musical performance are FREE with regular Gallery admission ($5 per person; AGW members and children under 12 free).
