Join us for family time and be engaged in creative studio activities led by local artists. Presented with the support of Anne Safranyos & family, we are pleased to offer Sundays in the Studio for a returning 5th year.

Sunday's in the Studio - May 2017

Artist: Sarah Beveridge

Sarah Beveridge is an artist, curator, educator and writer. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario (2002) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor (1997). As part-time faculty she has taught at the University of Western Ontario, Georgian College, and the University of Windsor. Her curatorial practice began as a Co-founder of Sis Boom Bah Gallery, Queen West, Toronto and later as Co-Director of I-Land Gallery, Morrow Ave, Toronto (1998-2000). She opened a commercial gallery, Sarah Beveridge Contemporary Art, in downtown Barrie, Ontario (2005-2007) and later became the Curator of Exhibitions and Public Projects for the MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie, Ontario (2006 -2009). As a public curator she has published writing on the work of contemporary Canadian artists; Sheila Butler, Jack Butler, Monica Tap, Patrick Mahon, Don Maynard, Vera Jacyk, Olexander Wlasenko and José Seoane. As a practicing artist, Beveridge has exhibited extensively and her work is featured in numerous private collections. Beveridge currently resides and practices in Windsor, Ontario and is the owner of a commercial gallery, SB Contemporary Art.

Come and join us in the studio each Sunday as we gear up for our new Spring exhibitions and The Sandwich Project! For the month of May, Artist Sarah Beveridge's creative projects will coincide with ideas surrounding food culture, pop art as well as notions of place. 

May 7: Making Maps 

Create your own ancient, treasure map, and learn how to tea stain paper. Come in and draw your sense of place, what does this place "Windsor" look like to you? Explore symbols and navigate through drawing and watercolour paint. 

May 14: Soft Sandwiches

Play with fabric and material to create your own soft-sculpture sandwich. Cut, paste and utilize found fabric materials to create fun food works of art. 

May 21: Printing Pop with Artist, Sasha Opeiko

Using a small etching press come in and emboss your own pop can prints. These raised textures on paper will be limited to one per person. 

May 28: Set The Table StillLife

Docent tours are also on Sundays! Visitors are invited to experience art in the gallery through docent-led tours on Sundays at 2pm.

FREE with $10 Gallery admission (Free admission for AGW members, children under 6 and Indian Status and Métis Card Holders).

Children must be accompanied by an adult
