Art Discovery Programs
Art Discovery programs focus on providing a genuine art experience, offering specialized studio programs for all ages taught by professional instructors in small groups, using quality materials and supplies.
Our Thursday Tots program is an introduction for children (ages 2-5) into the world of art, teaching them new ways of expressing themselves. Through weekly gallery tours and hands-on activities, tots learn the basics principles and elements of art, art and the senses, sculpture and printmaking. Parents and guardians participate alongside the children to encourage and interact with them.
Art Foundations for Children (ages 6-12) take place every six weeks with focus on painting and drawing. Students will learn to understand the elements of art: line, colour, texture, value and form and how they are utilized within the picture plane.
The teen classes are a continuation of Art Foundations, but more focus is placed on technique and creative thought process. Students are given projects and are expected to work at their own pace with individual instruction from the teacher.
Adult classes are a casual, social and fun exploration of drawing and painting. From the absolute beginner to the more seasoned artist looking for time to create, the AGW studio provides just the place. Classes are small, allowing for individual instruction.
The AGW also offers full-day March Break and Summer Camps, and drop-in programs. Contact MaryAnne if you have any questions, 519-977-0013 ext 103.
