Children's Festival of Art
Rick Laporte, President of CAW Local 444, and Ilias Kiritsis, AGW President, launched the first annual Children's Festival of Art on August 11, in conjunction with the Gallery's popular Free Wednesdays... Summer-sized series. Visitors of all ages enjoyed an exciting day of free performances, including live music, dance, theatre and puppet shows, plus new and exciting art activities and the grand finale, a National Film Board of Canada program of family-friendly animation favourites.
CAW Local 444 continues to be a great supporter of the AGW. Thanks to them the Gallery has presented a number of programs that enrich and enhance our community. Free programs such as the Children's Festival of Art, Sundays in the Studio, Kidz'hibit, community outreach initiatives and the development of the Jane E. Brindley Creative Centre have all benefited from Local 444's generosity and commitment.
CAW Canada has also supported the touring exhibition Yousuf Karsh: Industrial Images, which traveled coast-to-coast, representing not only the AGW but our wonderful city.
