"Treaty Canoe" transcription event by Alex McKay and Tory James

Saturday, February 28, 2015 | 1 pm – 2 pm

Treaty Canoe is a canoe made of treaties. Voyageur is its' larger seaworthy sister, that will be paddled across the continent, in relay, like an Olympic torch, by volunteers. But first it must be finished, it must be covered in treaties, and to do that we need volunteers to make the facsimile documents covering her hull. With dip-pen and ink we will transcribe treaties from machine printed text, onto hand-made linen paper. Come join us, find out which treaty denotes whose traditional territory you live on, were born on, or your ancestors landed on. Come find out that We Are All Treaty People.
