AGW Cares – Essential Workers Thank You

October 8, 2020 – January 4, 2022

Locations: Jane E. Brindley Creative Centre, 2nd floor, Jane E. Brindley Creative Centre, 2nd floor

When the Art Gallery of Windsor closed its doors in Spring 2020 to stop the spread of COVID-19, we wanted to find a way to thank essential service providers while supporting artists, the community and the gallery. We knew it would be hard to say “thank you” when we can’t leave our houses – so we came up with a plan.

The Art Gallery of Windsor selected a dozen artists in our community and commissioned them to create original artworks as a thank you to front-line workers in various sectors.

Are you a postal worker? A real estate agent? A bus or taxi driver? A sanitation worker? A grocery store employee or agricultural worker? A doctor or nurse? Or a worker in some other frontline essential service? Please contact the Art Gallery of Windsor. We would be delighted to drop off a poster with you at your place of work as a thank you for keeping us safe. Posters for essential workers are limited edition – first come, first served.

Signed limited edition prints of the commissioned artworks are also available for sale to the general public for $100 each. All sales support the Art Gallery of Windsor. Visit agwcares.ca for more information.

Thank you to the frontline essential workers of Windsor-Essex, for keeping us safe and healthy while we work together to stop the spread of COVID-19. And thank you to the artists who agreed to work with the Art Gallery of Windsor on this project: Briana Benore, Kristina Bradt, Talysha Bujold-Abu, Rashmi Dadwal, David Derkatz, Stephen Gibb, Stephanie Mele, Jay Raven, Graeme Skelton, Dennis Smith, Owen Swain and George Rizok.
