About the Artist: Elizabeth MacDonald

Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree from the University of Windsor in 2000, where she focused on photography, drawing and printmaking. Afterward, she volunteered and worked part-time at the Windsor Printmaker’s Forum, where she curated exhibitions, taught printmaking, life drawing, and held several positions on their Board.

Growing up, Elizabeth spent many holidays with her family camping in the northern Canadian wilderaness. At the Kingsville Jack Miner Public School, she learned of the Group of Seven. The group was a big inspiration and combined her love of the outdoors and painting.

Elizabeth began painting en Plein-Air with watercolour in 1997. She joined an online Urban Sketchers group. This group inspired her to start a group in Windsor. In 2009, she and a friend founded the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air Artists group. This group meets once per week year-round in and around Windsor & Essex County. Elizabeth currently organizes these paint-out events and participates in Plein-air events internationally.

This program is generously supported by Anne Safranyos and Family.
